Understanding TNFD – Mastering the Disclosure Framework to Future Standards

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is a global, market-led initiative that provides governments, businesses, and financial institutions with reporting guidance regarding their impacts and dependencies on nature. Launched in 2021, TNFD aims to shift global financial flows toward nature-positive outcomes. In a landmark move, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) decided in November 2025 to incorporate nature-related disclosures as a supplement to IFRS S1 and IFRS S2. Building directly upon the TNFD framework—similar to how it adopted the TCFD framework for climate reporting. The ISSB aims to issue a draft standard by October 2026. As regulators and investors increasingly turn their attention to nature-related risks, understanding TNFD is no longer optional for forward-looking organizations.
